Community Involvement

From its first sponsorship of a little league team in the early days; to bringing the Hoogland Center for the Arts to life; to supporting the work of Sparc to building homes for Habitat for Humanity, LRS has always been a good corporate citizen in the place we call home. Many charities and philanthropic organizations in and around Springfield are positively impacted by the spirit of giving back that is at the heart of LRS and its employees. We constantly seek ways to improve the community we work and live in.

Some of the organizations and programs LRS supports include:

Casual for a Cause

With our Casual for a Cause program, employees get to dress casual for a small weekly donation. The money raised that week goes to the week's designated charity; every imaginable kind of charity from animal shelters to the American Cancer Society.

Habitat for Humanity

LRS has sponsored and built two Habitat for Humanity homes in Springfield, Illinois in recent years. LRS-designated work days allowed LRS employees to complete the homes during both builds. Some volunteers chose hammer and nails, some wielded paint brushes, and others donated and served food to volunteers on the job site. There were jobs for anyone who wanted to participate, no matter what level of expertise they brought to the table.

Hoogland Center for the Arts

Theatre One, the main auditorium at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield, Illinois, bears the name of Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. as the result of a donation to the Center.

Kidzeum

LRS sponsors the LRS Administration Hall at the Kidzeum of Health and Science in Springfield, Illinois. The hall includes all of the modern equipment and networking/communication technology needed for the ongoing success of the Kidzeum.

LRS Scholarships

LRS sponsors several scholarships for high school and college students pursuing a career in the information technology field. Annual scholarships are presented to selected high school seniors at several of the Springfield, Illinois area high schools. Also, LRS has named scholarships for selected Computer Science majors each year at the University of Illinois-Springfield and at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Students interested in these scholarships should contact these schools directly.

Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation

LRS is a proud “Partner in Mission” sponsoring the Surgical Skills area at the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovations. This area allows residents and physicians to stay on the leading edge of practice and technology by honing their skills in a simulated environment. Using computer simulators and virtual reality technology, as well as specially designed procedure modules, surgical residents learn a wide array of skills.

Relay for Life

LRS has been Relay(ing) for Life since 1997. Many employees and family members, friends and acquaintances look forward to this annual event to celebrate the strides that have been made in cancer research. Others walk to honor, remember, and celebrate loved ones who have battled cancer or even lost their battle.

Members of the LRS Relay Team set personal fund-raising goals each year in addition to LRS being a corporate sponsor of this important event.
